1967 Austin Healey 3000 MkIII-"Saxon"replica-Rare !!
This is the more authentic Austin Healey 3000 replica-compared to the Sebring 5000 models. No flaired fenders, or fake hood louvers, or wider tires & roll bars, on this one. From Classic Roadsters in Fargo, North Dakota. Model is called the "Saxon". I have always preferred this original styling, over the Cobra wantabe Sebrings. This car was built in 1984 & has had 2 owners. This is a Florida car. it originally had a 2.3 liter Mercury Bobcat engine, but the owner, after touring the US in the car, decided it was time to install a faster motor in the car, & thats what he did. He spent a small fortune having a Mercury Merkur engine installed. Those were only produced from 1985 to 1990, so the engine is in that year range-somewhere. this car is now VERY peppy indeed, with the 2.3 liter turbo charged, multi point fuel injected 4 cyl motor producing 175 horsepower, which is double what it had before. with the smooth automatic transmission, this is a great daily driver, to enjoy on any of the big major highways. does 0-60 in just over 6 seconds & gets 24 mpg on highways & 19 mpg in the city. Has roll up glass windows, tan convertible top, front disc brakes, front Austin Healey 3000MKIII emblems, beautiful chrome wire wheels with spinners, & euro styled radial tires, wood dash & steering wheel, & titled as a 1984 Classic Roadster, easy to maintain fiberglass body with Wimbelton off white gelcoat finish, locking trunk removeable luggage rack, custom car cover, spare & new jack, bumper uprights, tan bucket seats, floor consol, am/fm/stereo w/cassette, only weighs 2000 pounds, 155" long, 94" wheelbase, tinted windows, etc. This is just a really fun car to drive anywhere. The owner passed away & his wife just sold it to me & drove it over 150 miles to our showroom, like it was a 5 minute trip. She also said that all sorts of new parts were also installed in the car, when the Merkur engine was installed, but couldnt find the actual bills-so far. She said it took a total of 4 months to have all the work done in 2002, by Marty's Auto Works, in Longwood, Florida-where the owners lived. Phone # of engine installer is available on request. it would cost well over $30,000. to replace this car now Return to Bob's Classics, Inc. or What's In Stock. Give us a call at 727-581-9406 |
