This is only the 3rd 1955 Mercedes 300SLR Roadster we have ever had, in over 12 years & I was told that this particular car was a factory built turnkey car, from Thoroughbred Coach Builders, in Mount Dora, Florida. These cars cost over $72,000. new, to have built. & is by far, the best color combo, of all the ones we have had to date. These cars really should be in the bright Mercedes Silver with lipstick red interior, which just seems to make it look more authentic. Has 8 real Mercedes emblems, including the rear 300 SLR script on the rear deck. Has real chrome wire wheels, covered plexiglass headlights, side racing stacks-just for show only, & a very unique rear pontoon headrest system, unlike all the others that had to be removed all the time, to put the top up, this one is hinged & has gas struts & just tilts backwards, which is super cool. Top is black & the snap on side curtains are black as well, powered by a peppy 302 V8 Ford 5.0 liter engine with automatic transmission, power brakes & steering, am/fm stereo with cassette, & small custom made rear bumpers, spun aluminum dash, with grab handles, seat belts, windshield wipers, dual fog lamps, & the rear hatch is opened with a key. This car is titled as a 1979 Thoroughbred, since it uses 1979 Ford running gear. I was told that the car was built around 1994, which is most likely correct.
